Testimonials

“Working with Charisse Glenn over the last eight years has dramatically changed and enriched my life.  Her powerful force has instilled in me the positive energy necessary to be able to compete in 50-mile endurance races.

I went from being an overweight 61-year-old novice passenger on a horse to a confident horseman. Not bad for a 69 year-old retiree who didn’t know how to sit on a horse a few years ago.

She taught me how to train my horse and myself to work as a team.  She can be tough, but she’s always a caring taskmaster.  She showed why it’s so important to be a balanced rider, and taught me how my balance affected my horse’s well being.  This is crucial, because as a super heavyweight, I need to be technically competent to compete in endurance races and not harm my horse.

I’m so proud of my newly learned horsemanship. I owe it to Charisse.  She has been a terrific role model in demonstrating the firmness and sensitivity needed in training a horse.  She has always provided a step-by-step structure in her training methods.  She showed me how important the small, incremental step-by-step approach is essential. Simple things like how to “sit” a horse, choose a saddle that protects my horse’s back, and create a safe environment for me and my equine partner.

My family was unsuccessful in getting me to lose weight.  Charisse told me to lose weight for the benefit of my horse.  She was tough on me, and got me to lob off 50 pounds in one year.  She cared so much that I was inspired.

Thanks to Charisse, now  I have a new set of goals and aspirations.  I’m now equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and motivation to achieve them.  In fact, my goal for next year is to be the oldest rookie ever to finish the renowned and grueling 100 mile Tevis Cup race.

Another one of Charisse’s strongest assets is working with kids. She provides the necessary combination of strength, kindness, motivation, and toughness that it takes to change a scared kid into an accomplished athlete.

Besides teacher and coach, I’m proud to call Charisse a friend.”

If you’re a competitive rider and want to be the best you can be and bring the best out of your horse, I highly recommend working with Charisse Glenn.  I’ve been an active rider and horse owner all my life and have been pursuing endurance since ’99.  In the last few years, while riding with Charisse, I’ve learned so much about conditioning, nutrition, balanced riding, competitive strategy and overall horsemanship than ever before.  Charisse has been a wonderful mentor and coach and is helping myself and my husband prepare ourselves and our horses for the 100 mile distance.  We train and condition with the Tevis Cup as the objective.  It is priceless to have someone like Charisse to train with as she understands the trail from all sides and is helping us prepare for the terrain, the heat, the race conditions, vet gates, pacing and ride strategy.  She is a horseman and her endurance program covers all aspects of riding, training and health care that yields consistent and sustained results.  I highly recommend both Charisse and her husband Carl, whether you are a novice or an advanced rider.

Charisse Glenn is the first endurance rider I met when I moved from France in 2002. Because of her I learned how to move on the California trails. She shared with me her horsemanship and passion. Charisse has the ability to understand others's culture and language and she is curious about what happening abroad. When we went to compete in France - Ribiers, the "French endurance world" really appreciated who she is as a rider and as a person. Charisse has a goal, she is focused and concentrated and if you have a goal and you have focus and concentration, she will help you to carry your own flag.
